Then things went south!

After art-deco land (q.v.) I made the six hour bus trip to Wet-lington, and took in a few of the sights. The weather was atrocious, with periodic showers, grey sky and vicious 60 kph plus biting, chilly southerly winds. But the capital does have its attractions, and it's clean. I spent a few days there.

Then south! )

There's no security checks at the airport in Armidale. Although it may have helped when my dad gave me a lift and he knew everyone who worked there...

I can imagine that having been true a few years back, but is that still true? Especially in a country that's fighting wars in Arab lands and has public signs saying (IIRC) HELP KEEP AUSTRALIA SAFE FROM TERRORISM, etc. Though the "knew everyone who worked there" probably is of some significance.

You better be enjoying that warm sunshine in Brissie because it was in shortage here (well, Wet-lington anyway) over the last few days! I am doing well in Kiwi Land but will be very pleased as well to get back to Paradise if/when I do. I have a plane ticket but no visa!

You're coming to Xch in a couple of weeks? YAY! :)

Now I know you're not all that far away from here, but anyway, it's still good news. As for my response, in principle I give an ae and a nod, but over at least one of the coming weekends I may plan to dart off to other points farther south. But that aside, I'm sure we can arrange something, so yes, I'll be in touch so we can try to sort out the specifics. Looking forward to it muchly and thank you!
