I've never heard of any readily available Muzak but there are radio stations dedicated to it, so you could start there.

*contemplates the David Bowie Muzak version heard years back*

*weeps tears of fear and dread*

I think the most horrifying one for me was realizing that I was listening to a Muzak version of Aerosmith's "Love in an Elevator" in the middle of a grocery store.

That's just... I mean... WOW. Other than Mr.Brightside today, I haven't heard anything too brain breaking. Coldplay is already sorta mellow-mellow, so throwing violins at it doesn't hurt too bad. But yeah I don't know what I'd do if I heard "welcome to the jungle" done bing crosby style or the like. Probably scream and run.

Japan I know does 'music box' versions of the big hits. I think they call it Orgel Music? I actually really liked the version of Utada Hikaru's "Automatic."

I also have a Japanese instrumental cover of Green Day's "When I Come Around" on acoustic guitar. But that's from a tribute album, not muzak, and I honestly love it.

Mr. Brightside is ALREADY elevator music!
*dodges*

I'd be cringing if they muzakked some heavy metal. OR OFFSPRING!
XDD

The Mr Brightside cover is by Paul Anka, I believe, mostly because it doesn't seem to be by Richard Cheese.

Yes, there are several guys working this gag to death.

The Orchestral Viva la Vida maybe Coldplay's fault, though.

If it's the 'Hit me with your Best Shot' one, that was Richard Cheese. Thus spake Wikipedia.
