My sister came to Chicago yesterday to give me the presents she had for me. A very belated and excessively extravagant birthday present was the centerpiece: blu-ray player with netflix streaming. Also, There Will Be Blood on blu-ray. I haven't watched that yet because I don't have the right kind of cable to hook the machine up to my roommate's

If it makes you feel better, the items listed above are the only gifts I got this year. So it means the only Xmas gifts I got were the picture frame and the cologne, aside from the 20$ gift card I got for Chicago Diner from the employee secret santa and the 8 Women that Mark procured for $6 to replace the one his ex-boyfriend stole from me. The previous highlight of my birthday were the I, Claudius books I got from the Jew.

I guess that's what happens to snark old narcissists like us as we push toward our great rewards.

My mom said she'd buy me something this week. She wanted to buy me a video camera because she wants me to make movies but my sister told her I need a new TV for my blu-ray machine and so I'm to tell her if I want either of those or something else... Que penses?

Yes, it does. I got $50 from dad, plus some caramel corn and maybe the most thoughtful thing he's ever gotten for me: a copy of Emil Lucka's Die Drei Stufen Der Erotik, verlegt bei Schuster & Loeffler, Berlin und Leipzig (I must get my narcissism from the Loefflers, as they'll buy any antique that has Loeffler written on it
