Spending the morning watching Cloverfield. Then, like all DVDs I watch (because I watch them to learn story and everything else), I will watch it again with all the commentary tracks.
It a pv dvd here too. I only buy new now if it is something I really have to have NOW.
Reason: Ernie is a movie snob. If he thinks he won't like it he won't even watch two seconds of a film to give it a chance. And two, he won't watch something just for pure entertainment.
Well, the first time I saw the preview, I said to myself. "Godzilla meets Blair Witch."
Then the movie came out and every review I read sais, "Godzilla meets Blair Witch."
I hate handi-cam work. Gives me a head-ache. Struggled mightily with the Bourne movies because of it.
And I hated Blair Witch. Yes, I approached it as a learning experience, yes I thought the writers committed egregopis sins of making their characters stupid.
Horror I get, stupid is no excuse.
So, this is the filter I perceive Cloverfield, and my time is short enough without watching stupid movies.
But, now that you've watched it and found some value in it, I will add it to my queue. Always willing to learn something new.
The value I found in it had less to do with story and more to do with presentation, though, remember that.
If I see you soon, and I think I will, I can probably just lend you my copy. Like all my DVDs, I buy them previously viewed for like $6. The whole bi-polar thing makes it hard to return things on time :(

So perhaps don't take my word for it. But then he like I Am Legend.
