She always wondered, how she managed to get away with it. How she had pulled it off without raising suspicion. No bloodline can ever consistently produce power-houses. Even the Kuchiki clan only spawned a captain every few generation. However, Kuchiki Sojun might not have been as awesomely powerful as his father Ginrei or his son Byakuya, Sojun was still powerful enough to hold the position of a vice-captian of the Gotei 13. No mean feat as a vice-captain was usually leagues above in power then the seated officers.
On the other hand, the Fon clan had been producing lackluster Shinigami for sometime now. Her idiot husband had gone through two wives before he married her because of her raw power in a desperate bid to produce some children who didn’t die during their first few missions. However, the moment her eldest son was born, she knew he was a failure. The birth reiatsu of her son was too low and while extrapolation from birth reiatsu was by no means an accurate measure, his demeanor as a child confirmed her suspicions that he would be useless. Her husband must also have had similar incling and all but forced her to have another child, then another and another. But they were all worthless. Even when he was hopeful, she who understood the functionality of reiatsu better, thanks to the hours she spent helping Aizen with his experiments back when she was in the academy, was not hopeful.
Yet when the children started showing signs of being sub-par, it was she who was blamed and not him. Anyone with half a braincell should be able to deduce that a man who had, had a slew of children from three different women and all of whom had been failures, was the problem and not the women. However, the man involved was the head of the Fon clan, who had been careful about only marrying women who would be rendered powerless the moment he cast them aside. Certainly the murmurs started about how she too was going to be cast aside. THAT she was not going to tolerate. After mauling over her options she realised that she had but one. In the end, she ended-up at his doorstep.
“You know, I really did love you,” was the first thing that Aizen said when she was done explaining her plan, his voice was mockingly aggrieved but his face was still smiling, “Yet you chose that boorish lout over me. All because of his rank and I was forced to say goodbye. I was heart broken and now you want me to help you remain his wife! How could you be so cruel!”
“Your acting has taken a turn for the worse,” commented Lady Fon a little angrily, “Your face betrays your words. Indeed, your memory is being faulty. If I recall correctly, you were happy to have someone who could teach you Fon clan secret techniques that were known only to the members of the main family.”
Aizen smiled then, his amused smile that stripped away his gentle mask and left the dangerous man underneath visible to all, “I have missed you,” he admitted, getting-up he unfolded her in an embrace, “Alas, I have not found another with whom I could be so open as you. But then again, my plans have reached a point that I can’t even be wholly open with you, even had you remained by my side. Still,” he continued as he started to strip her of her cloths, “I like the idea of starting a clandestine romance with Lady Fon.”
“Who said anything about a clandestine romance!” protested Lady Fon.
“I did, just now,” Aizen pointed out, “I like the idea of your head in a noose.”
“I asked you to father a child with me that I could pass-off as one of my idiot husband’s,” pointed out Lady Fon, “How is that not putting my head in a noose? The proof of my infidelity would be running around, with a name!”
“Yes but that would be just one night. Maybe two if you fail to conceive tonight. Thou I suspect you have loaded yourself with enough medication to ensure that you DO conceive. Hardly a risk to either you or me. Once the child is born... well... I know you. If the child starts to resemble me and not you, so that you stand in danger of being exposed, you would merely dispose of it. No, no, I want to watch you squirm and that can only happen if we are have a long, drawn-out affair that raises the risk of discovery...”
“You are a sadist,” commented Lady Fon, giving-up, knowing that he would get his way, one way or another.
“Coming from you,” commented Aizen, “It’s praise of the highest kind.”
Lady Fon sighed and set about enjoying herself. Afterall, even though she knew what kind of a monster he was. He was the only person she had ever truly loved, still did to a certain extent. If only because, she was a monster too.
In the end, the long drawn out affair had been a good idea. Because the son she had conceived on that night, started to grow-up to look a little too much like his father. O he was powerful. Easily surviving missions more difficult then those that killed his brothers. He was perfect too. Utterly devoted to her and willing to die for her. If only he didn’t have soft brown eyes and pale brown hair. In the end, she had turned to Aizen again.
To her utter surprised he had bulked at sabotaging the boy’s mission. To this day, Lady Fon didn’t have a clue why the normally uncaring Aizen had flat out refused to help her dispose of the son who was no good to her. She couldn’t imagine Aizen feeling anything for the boy. He had hardly met the boy! Still he had refused and in the end, she had had to do it herself the old fashioned way.
Slow acting poison in the boys last meal before his mission had ensured that the boy would be overcome when he could least afford it. As a testament to his power, he had taken out all the Hollows before he had succumbed to the poison. He was given a hero’s burial and fortunately for the pair of twin boys he had left behind, they looked nothing like their true grandfather. Infanticide really wasn’t her thing.
Pity the twins were nowhere near realising their true potential thanks to Soifon’s subconscious coddling. However, Lady Fon couldn’t be too angry with Soifon. Afterall, Soifon had been just the thing Lady Fon had been seeking the night she turned-up on Aizen’s doorstep. A child with some measure of Aizen’s awesome power but one who resembled her so thoroughly that no one would wonder at her sharing not a single feature with her supposed father.
“Ah Shaolin,” wondered Lady Fon to herself as she made her way down to one of Aizen’s labs that the latter had turned over to her long ago, and one that she had kept intact and running, long after Soul Society had disposed of Aizen, “I wonder what you would do if you ever found out who’s blood truly courses through your veins. I wonder what Kira Izuru would say if he learnt whose daughter he was really in love with. I will tell you of course, I will tell you just before I die. So I can see the lovely sight of your confused, shocked and angry face, ere I die and go on to the next life. Afterall, I can hardly die without seeing that, can I?” she smiled to herself as she pushed open the door to the chamber where Aizen’s hollow specimens were kept in suspended animation. She knew just the one to use. Just the one that would bring Kira Izuru to his knees and thus free the daughter she had put her head in a noose to get.
Author’s Note: So about the whole Aizen being Soifon’s biological father business that I just made-up, I have always found Soifon's family history a little interesting. For those who don’t know, Soifon is the youngest of six children. Of her elder five brother, two died during their first mission, two during their second. The fifth brother, the one immediately before her, survived until his sixth mission and then there was Soifon - a pint-size powerhouse!
Of course, nothing says that a pro-footballers siblings have to all be good at football. But there does seem to be a heredity component to reiatsu and I just found it exceedingly odd that there was such a gulf, GULF of difference in power between herself and seemingly all her sibling. I could understand her being a captain and them being seated officers only. But not even surviving early missions... seems a bit much.
So I sort of decided to build a mountain out of that mole-hill and make Aizen her father. Not that Aizen ever did anything in canon to indicate that she might be different in someway. I just found the whole idea a tad amusing. ^.^
