The difference between your blog and some random guy's blog is: you were already a celebrity before you started which is why I think people read your blog for the first time, we had expectations before we read a word, there are probably a bunch of informative, funny, interesting and helpful people that write blogs but Ericia the brand was established.
As for MMM, yes it is luck based, but someone with a good rune combination resonating the right rune will have a good drop rate and someone with only 4 runes will not. Assuming they did 20 runs each I'd expect 25-33% from the formor and I'd consider the latter lucky to get a weapon at all. It's really not as simple as lost and found + beast/lizard/plantoid + great warrior + s might as everyone seems to think it is. But the '95% moon on lightsday facing north east with a party of people with names starting with "D"' theories go too far.
Your comments on COR so far have got me thinking. First i have to say i am not a cor, so my opinion might be irrelevant, but i consider cor/rng the way to go. Still i don't scorn the cor/whms i find (whm, so cor/whm isn't embarrassing as second heal). My thought is: despite cor/rng seeming the correct choice in how to play the job, if it is so expensive that even a solid player cannot really affor that kind of playstyle... how can it be the right choice? I know you can go cor/rng the cheap way too, using just crappy bullets... but wouldn't that make you less useful for the party than a cor/whm? What's worse, a cor/whm as second heal or a cor/rng who uses good bullets only for WS?
My money problems are a combination of a lot of factors. 1) my LS never gives out any sort of gil even though I'm making them money hand over foot 2) I have no craft and no real farming strategy, so I'm largely motivated to BCNM for gil by necessary and 3) I have between 6 and 7 jobs fully geared up at all times. Ultimately it's that last one that murders me. If I was just focusing efforts on COR it wouldn't be terribly difficult to pay for ammo costs even doing it COR/RNG. But I'm not willing to do that since that would mean no more purchase for my other jobs. I love alls my children equally!
COR/WHM can't be doing a lot of healing due to MP recovery issues anyway. With only evoker's roll, which you'd have on less than half the time, you'd be lucky to toss out a curaga every couple of minutes. That ain't going to go very far. COR isn't like BRD where you can sing quick songs on yourself when you're done with the rotation. The one song per minute limitation really hurts that idea.
