One tiny thing about your guide: Lost and found will make runes of a different tier drop, pretty much a completely different set of runes. Craft runes, job runes, weird misc runes drop. I cannot say that regular runes do not drop, just like I can't prove pink fluffy elephant shaped fish don't live under the sea. It isn't possible to prove something does not exist.
But the additional runes Lost and found adds to the potential drops might explain the origin of the rumour... Or it could be the 4 leaf mandy bud / lucky egg / wild rabbit's foot / etc effect. But I don't want people to expect magic runes or S might dropping more often because they have Lost and found.
Other than that, nice guide and as a melee DD I agree with you, completely a waste of a good party slot as we can't even tank due to the inability to deal enough damage to keep hate.
Well, even if it doesn't increase drop rate, it does seem to expand the loot pool at no particular cost. I'm fairly certain that runes that drop on farming runs without Lost and Found on can still drop with it, and that certain runes only drop with it on, so there's no downside to using it other than a minor marble hit and it's obnoxious shape.
As a BLM you may laugh at dark magic, I had a RDM who took 20 seconds to dispel dread spikes on a zerked Dhamel once, that's the last time my group uses that rune... :P
Nice work - congrats on the new Blu sword. Since I'm far too cheap to go for an Azoth I'm still trying to get an Ermine Tail from the dhalmel with no luck - he's pretty easy to duo as thf/dnc aside from the obnoxious healing breezes that are alittle too fast for me to stun. I think we've done him *without* supreme might/might on though it would seem that from your experience you thankfully dont need both for drops. Since getting help is abit harder for a more powerful NM for me and my friend we'll prolly experiment with the "no supreme might" duo strat for awhile putting on the usual "useless magic" runes (I like enhancing, but thats prolly because he usually just casts shell and erases my step/samba dazes which isnt that big of a deal) and maybe some strength boosts to see if you can get stuff from that... if I find anything out abo0ut that I'll post it on the dnc fourums.
well... looks like getting new runes is gunna get alot harder now - for some reason SE decided to nerf the amount of marbles you get from a typical farm run by about half... I guess because of that new "get better rewards if you dont go as often" thing they implemented...?
How am i supposed to get better rewards if I can't get the appropriate runes for it? Duplacation only?
I've tanked this PLD/NIN a few times, and as you said, it's probably the best tank setup for it. Our formation was PLD, BLM, BLM, RDM, RDM, WHM. We tried it in 2 different modes (I don't know the specifics). The first mode was cake to tank. The second was a little rougher but still ok. The BLM's started to get resisted after a while on the 2nd mode.
The key is to not go all out at the start, let the Tank get a decent amount of hate. As long as they ain't getting hit, they won't lose too much hate. Also helping them out with occasional Stuns on Ichi recast is welcomed.
We only had it going after the BLM's closer to the end. Also have insane BLM's that just want to die, so that doesn't help... also they wouldn't stand still for Cover. I've never understood why people don't stand still when you have a tank with this ability (and one of the BLM's is a PLD and knows the ability).
Anyhow I think we are 0/3 on this NM atm, only just started fighting it.
