Spirited Away

Finished Spirited Away this morning.

"Stunning" doesn't even approach it. I want to show it to every ten-year-old girl I know (all one of them), and anyone else who will watch (and everyone should).

As if Princess Mononoke hadn't, Spirited Away has made me a faithful fan and devotee of Miyazaki. Beauty of this magnitude just doesn't occur naturally ( Read more... )

Oh! Maybe they didn't release it over there. You poor, deprived souls. ;-) It's a movie. Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese genius of animation, that to me, as far as sheer talent, makes Walt Disney look like Mickey Mouse. Spirited Away is the highest-grossing film of all time in Japan. It's brilliant and beautiful and stunning and I could easily exhaust myself of adjectives. If you care about animation at all, or beauty, or good stories, or just quality entertainment, you should see it, even if you have to get on a boat or plane to do so. But I reckon there are bound to be copies of it over there somewhere.

No, but I found it on Wikipedia. Cool! What d'you know? There's a South African film industry. I learn something every day. It looks very good. Maybe they'll release it over here, or else I may be the one hopping a boat or plane. ;-)

OMG I love Miyazaki soooo much.

I think I might watch Howl's Moving Castle tonight. Or what the hell! Maybe Spirited Away. I'll decide when it's time to put it in.

Miyazaki love!

Yes! :-D I'm going to see all of them eventually.

Hey, what are you doing for the Harry Potter 7 release? Because it would be cool to hang out with somebody. For the last one, I was just with a bunch of kids and weirdos I didn't know (weirdos I know are so much better!) at the B&N on University.

Right now, my friend and I are planning a trip to the UK in July and we'll probably be there for the release if everything goes to plan money-wise.

"Princess Mononoke" is by far my favorite animated movie ever. Tops "Little Mermaid", and that's almost blaspheming for me!

"Spirited Away" in my top 5. Not sure where it sits, though.

Spirited Away is special. 'Tis my favorite, though granted the only other Miyazaki I've seen is Princess Mononoke. :-)
