Book 8 Update: Setback

I was supposed to release Duty or Desire early this week through an aggregator. Unfortunately, there are a few issues that need fixing which will delay the book’s release. Among other things, I may have to change my author name to a more standard first name/last name one. That means I have to ask my cover artist to change the name on the cover to

Just curious -- why do they require a first and last name? Who do you use for self-publishing? I'm wondering how all that works. Best wishes for the new book.

I’m releasing the book through Draft2Digital, an aggregator. They don’t impose the first/last name rule for authors but apparently many of the bookstores require that now including Amazon. I suppose a publishing house can get them to set aside that policy, but probably not a self-publishing author unless he or she is a best-selling writer.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it's because of how they've set up their database or something. What is your new name going to be? I'm also interested in your experience with self-publishing. Do you recommend it? What are the pros and cons?

I’m still going to use Eressë as my first name and a variant of my surname for my last name. I’ve been advised not to switch to a completely different name for branding purposes. Readers of the series are already familiar with Eressë so it would be self-defeating to change to something completely different
