Knitting for the Noughties

Hello Hello!

This is an enquiry on behalf of bitofstuff who has recently started knitting and is looking to find out more knitting stuff that is not hideously buried in the 70s. I seem to remember that there was a wave of knitting related shenanigans going on over at Barbelith recently, but I tried searching and couldn't find any links or even threads ( ( Read more... )

There's Stitch and Bitch and Stitch and Bitch Nation --good beginners books for riot grrls. Somebody in Plums's journal linked to a really yum list of knitting books, though I think those were more advanced.

I get most of my knitting done courtesy of Good Housekeeping patterns.

Hm, I do sound like I just stepped out of the 50's don't I?

Seriously, the modern Good Housekeeping patterns are pretty good, though some of them are a little too complex for me.

Try www.knitty.com - free patterns and some of them are really good fun.

Also www.magknits.com - more free patterns! Plus looking around at knitting blogs is often interesting and can turn up some good patterns.
