Yeah, the moment I first saw Spike, I thought, "Oh man is Shawn going to love this." It's really uncanny how much Spike resembles Toroth in some ways. It instantly made Spike all the more endearing.
My favorite pony is Applejack. She doesn't have any magic powers, can't fly, and isn't psychic--her lone superpower is gumption. It's amazing how, despite her absence of special talents, her relentless work ethic makes her the most capable pony of the Mane Six--the exemplar of everything that made horses so invaluable to civilization before the dawn of the automobile. And yet she's not indefatigable. Man oh man did I ever relate to that episode where she almost works herself to death. I wish I'd seen it before my last job nearly killed me.

Heh, I never thought too much about how similar Toroth and Spike were, but you're right. IN fact, it was Spike that was my gateway to FiM. For my birthday, a friend of mine surprised me with gift art of Toroth done in the MLP:FiM style, and I had been hearing a lot of buzz about it... and the rest is history ( ... )
