The One to Ten Ranking System

Nov 06, 2004 22:57

In reply to my last entry, ngene said this: "I personally hate dressing up, and usually end up feeling somewhat inferior at the assemblies because I wear the same dress as last year, and because I haven't spent 2 hours doing my hair, and because I have very little make-up... Argh." I started to reply to it, but found my reply to be unbecomingly ( Read more... )

This is a very curious post... I like it! You know, in the days I was just learning the truth, I felt like quite an outsider. I really didn't know anyone. My family wasn't in the truth. I didn't even have but one or two friends in the truth at all, and they were hours away. So, yeah, there were those moments of feeling inferior - like... walking around at a district convention and not knowing anyone other than the guy you were studying with. Out of thousands of people HE knew, I knew.. him. And me, hehe! And yeah, you could see that some families, EVERYONE knew ( ... )

wow... I never really considered what it would truly be like being a completely new person with no history in the truth at all. That would be very hard.

I believe that you don't do the whole rank thing. You're not like that, which is great. (But I didn't believe Pat when he told me the same thing. He just had an arrogance about him that told me he's very judgemental.)

Great question dodging, you're to be commended. Incidentally, you should kill two birds with one stone by coming to Indy next week- I'm staying with CoCo.

I remember a CO said one time that it seems half of the congregation is there to test the other half. I really tried to stop worrying some time ago, about how I thought others in the congregation viewed me.Once I did I started to genuinely enjoy being at the meetings. Everyone (whether they admit it or not) is struggling with some kind of problem or issue. Just concentrate on your own personal relationship with Jehovah and remember that he views all of us as equals. I hope you don't think I sound preachy or anything :)...

Yeah, I don't worry much about it... I just observe, and try to do the best I can. I get a kick out of watching and learning.

Yes, you have overanalyzed and undervalued yourself as usual! Not that I would want you to be an overpuffed braggert or anything, but give yourself some credit! You do school, work, study and do relentless research for meetings. While, as of yet, you have not auxed, you put in I would say 3 to 4 times the national average in field service time a month. Not to shabby Moto. So stop raggin on my pride and joy! Love Ya - Kitty

And by the way Jehovah sees us all individually and not for our "family trees".

well, rather I TRY to do all those things. It's not very often anymore that I'm doing well in all of them at once. (BTW, it's just under 3x that I get... lets not exaggerate.) But thank you, Kitty... you're always the best on my cheerleading sqad.

I guess I came across wrong... I wasn't in any way insinuating that Jehovah sees us on such a ladder, or that the ladder is good or even okay. I'm just saying, well, it exists with a lot of congregations, a lot of circuits, a lot of individuals. We can't help it, really... it's in our imperfect nature to rank things. That's why VH1 has so many top 100 lists.
