[Bass is actually expecting him to be lurking around since the arcade. It's also one of the reasons why he didn't bother trying to lock it from Protoman. He's facing the statue, just crouching and shoving a rat away as it lumbers over toward him curiously and without turning around he says-]

[But then, replying had about as much potential use as not replying did - he still had the post to monitor for any information after all - and Protoman slips out of hiding to lean against a wall several yards behind Bass, arms crossed.]
