It took 9ish hours, but I finally got Ubuntu running on my computer with ALL the hardware working and ALL the mousebuttons working like I want them to and everything else

Got the nvidia drivers working really easily, actually. It was, of course, one of the first things I did. And, it was the only driver installation that Ubuntu really held my hand through.
At first Ubuntu just froze when I plugged my wireless access point thing-y into it, and I wasn't aware how to check logs, so I tried google. Apparently you have to install drivers that have nothing to do with the manufacturers of the wireless thingy, which is kind of odd. But it works just great.
Oh, and I <3 Compiz. My desktop has never looked so good. Effortless theme changes! Oh my!
Cube? Nonono, triangular prism. And Opaque cubes are so not cool. My background is fully transparent- I can see (the reverse of) everything on any of my three desktops at once. Screenshots are needed. http://eri3ch.googlepages.com/frontview.jpg http://eri3ch.googlepages.com/sideview.jpg That all looks about 10x better in motion. I made the window theme, by the way. It fits my needs and stuff. Oh, and notice how the background isn't a static image- it's a sky-sphere, and rotates with the camera(?). I generally have a side of the prism be firefox, one be xchat (horrible, by the way. Know any decent IRC clients?)/Pidgin (the 'communications' side), and one be a general work area for scripts/playing with files/whatever. It works pretty well.
