RIP Router
It's hot out again. I don't like it.
I woke up this morning and discovered my router was dead. I'm blaming it on the 100 degree heat. Oh and thanks to my bank doubling my minimum balance and my car eating up almost $1,000, its probably going to be a couple of months before I can divert any money towards a new router :/ (well, I could scrap my plans to blow $300 on a new camera lens in the next couple of weeks, but cameras are more important then internet). Yea, so as of right now, I've got three cat-5 cables sitting next to my DSL modem, and I'm swapping them in and out as necessary :( My router had built in wireless, so I don't even have a wireless network anymore (and by extension all the various devices that only connect to the internet over wifi are now stuck offline). Maybe I'll go crack the WPA encryption on one of my neighbors networks and just leach off of them. That could work :) I did spend a little time earlier looking at new routers, and I've since decided that my next one needs to have 802.11n support and USB support (so I can plug my printer and maybe a hard drive or two directly into it).
Anyone know any good 64-bit vista firewalls? I'm really not comfortable relying on the built in Windows firewall as my only line of defense. Maybe I'll find something tomorrow.
Work today was 5 to close in box office. Someone signed a star of hope as "sookie stackhouse" which I thought was funny. And sara was randomly trying to put a dent in her head all night. Otherwise it was another busy weekend shift. The last movie was at 12:10 am, and manager Pete was doing the register closeouts (slowly) so I didn't get to leave until 12:40 am-ish.
