From the halls of the Crystal Empire to the shores of Canterlot...

Of all the things I've seen lately...

Toys for Tots is back again, it being that time of year, and the local mall has a USMC table where they're collecting the toys. It is staffed by a Marine in dress uniform and the toys are in a box beside it and sometimes set atop it so the Marines can play with examine them ( Read more... )

"This is my pony. There are many like it but this one is mine..."

I'm just trying to imagine the look on the Build-a-Bear employees as a Marine in full dress walks in and asks for them to get him a Fluttershy.

I think the main difference is how well-groomed he would be in comparison to some of the other adult males coming in and asking for one "For my... sister, yeah, that's right."

And I hope you had a decent Thanksgiving.

I've been happy to see how many military bronies there are in America. And remember, this is one of the most kickass militaries there's ever been in human history, too.

I did mention the Fluttershy thing to my ex-Army brother, and he said the idea of Marines having an interest in children's toys was no surprise, given the mental level of most Marines. (His opinion, not mine.) The same thing used to happen at family reunions when the ex-Marines uncles and the ex-Army/Navy uncles used to hash it out as a joke.

Let me know when Build-A-Bear comes out with a Doctor Whooves, complete with floppy hat, six-foot-scarf, sonic screwdriver, and a bag of jelly babies. :D

(Tom Baker, still the best Doctor of them all. "Oh, look! Rocks!")

You might have to wait a while for that one. But one can always hope!

Characteristically good taste in characters. (My eldest daughter is big on Fluttershy.)

Flutts is certainly okay, though I prefer AJ or Rarity myself. But all the Mane Six are good.

And on a related note, my sister rented a copy of the animated 'Dark Knight Returns' by one of my least favorite superhero comics writers, Frank Miller. Two and a half freaking hours of sadism, blood & gore, anvilicious politics, and a general tone of everyone's-an-asshole. Urrgh.

I told her, "Thanks, but don't ever rent this for me again. Why? I don't like how or what Miller writes."

Her: "What's wrong, you're a man, you're supposed to like this."

I can't remember-- do you read Superversive's stuff? Philosophically aligned, at the very least.

I've never read Superversive's stuff. I don't even know who he is.
