Last time I played Scrabble against C she kicked my ass something like 270-360. I decided to wait until she was under the weather with a terrible case of tonsilitis to try for a rematch. I drew the blank on my opening rack and two turns later managed to turn EILLRR? into GRILLERS. C followed up with JOGS on the triple and then bingoed with PRINCES

As you might imagine this is an interesting experience that is quite humorous, and leads to much declaration of "this 'Q' is a 'P' and this 'Z' is really an 'A,' and I am going to spell 'pat.'" And then trying to figure out how many points "QZT" is worth and how to make another word from "QZT," especially since the 'Q' is only a 'P'(likewise with the 'Z' & 'A') when it is the child's turn, otherwise, when it is my turn, it is clearly really a "Q."
Sometimes it works to say enthusiastically "LOOK! YOU WON! YAY! Let's play Uno now!" But only sometimes.
