So sue me for not updating...it's not like there's a lot of traffic and I'm getting less and less enchanted by the "dirt laundry" aspects of much of so many of the blogs I see out there.
Guess this is one of those David Byrne's days..."Say something once, Why say it again?" (fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa...)...

And you may say to yourself, "Couldn't you have gotten a smaller one?"
And you may say to yourself, "Why didn't you get it taken in?"
And you may say to yourself, "My God, what have I worn?"
Saw you'd added me to your flist, so I've added you back. Pleased to meet you. Let me introduce myself. My name is Kevin, but just about everyone calls me Moose. There's a simple reason for that--my last name is disturbingly similar to "Bullwinkle." I'm a software engineer by occupation, a physicist by training, and a freelance writer of games by hobby/sideline. Oh yes, and a hockey fan too.
I gather that you're an archivist. Isn't it odd that the 3 people (you, CD, and Mr. Rakshasa--at least, I don't think I've met him, although we were both involved in some freelancing projects) on my flist that I've never actually met are all archivists? Obviously you've seen me posting comments to CD, and now the friend-of-a-friend phenomenon is taking over ( ... )

Hi, I'm Television's Mr. Rakshasa!
I am 6'3" tall.
I am an archivist.
I work in Theatre, and relish this.
I write games. It's my hobby.
I know MOOSE through ldygamer who was mine boss once.
My reading moods fluctuate between history (usually history of the Early Church or Pirates, but pretty much anything) and the X-Men.
I still play with lego.
I can't find my Heroclix.
So I'm a lazy introducer.

Yes, three archivists in this cluster...pretty wild. I used to work with CD before finding another job with academic institution that ISN'T in Houston. I know the situation she is dealing with there first hand (I was the Archivist II, she was/is still the Archivist I) and can only hope for it to change for the better for her. She certainly deserves better.
I spent 4 years as a "Senior Program Analyst", as they liked to call us, doing mostly Web development for corporate clients after Library School because the economy sucked so badly that the archive jobs that were available would barely cover the rent, much less groceries and utilities. I did a miniscule amount of VB and perl hacking...but I would be loath to call myself a "programmer."
