Rise and Fall

Eric smiled and greeted Brittany as she arrived at the field office. They very seldom received visitors, but it wasn't like she didn't have the clearance. She was supposed to be bringing a couple personnel with her and they were going to be collaborating on a project for a few days. It was nice to be working with her once again

"It's good to see you too, Eric," Brittany said, greeting her old friend with a big hug whether he wanted one or not. It had been way too long since she had seen him. "And you can blame Julian," she said, nodding at her longtime friend slash boss. It wasn't often that Burroughs got out of the office, but he had been the most qualified for this particular assignment, and he didn't mind going.

Even if it meant leaving Hannigan and Michael in charge while they were gone. Though he irritated people, Julian knew that the field office would be in capable hands. Everything would be fine and he wanted to convince himself that he was still a viable field operative.

"It's a pleasure to see you again, Agent Weiss," he said with a nod and a firm handshake. "It's been at least two years, as far as I can recall...?"

Eric nodded. "At least that. Good to see you again as well." He did remember the man. "Agent Bristow is waiting in the conference room and he'll be conducting the briefing. After that, I can take you to your hotel and let you get settled in."

Ideally, that would have been done first, but Jack sometimes was anal about briefings and procedure.

Brittany nodded, a little. It had been years since her confrontations with Jack Bristow and she'd sort of put that behind her, if only because she hadn't seen the man in years to begin with.

Julian settled his hand lightly on the small of her back as they walked into the conference room. The two of them were good friends, practically mentor and student, and they had only grown closer since he had come to New York to get her out of trouble.

"This is my neck of the woods," he commented with a small smile.

Eric led them to the conference room and introduced the people present. "Agent Brittany House, Agent Julian Burroughs, this is Special Agent Jack Bristow, Agent Amato Antonelli, and our technology expert, Andrew Moser." Each person nodded in greeting as the introductions were made.

Jack Bristow raised an eyebrow at seeing Brittany for the first time in years. "I heard you had remarried," he observed evenly.
