Thanks for all the comments so far, and sorry this is coming in little fits and starts but I am planning/writing it in between my 3rd year university exams!

Anyway, on with the fic!

4 - Remember That Old Game We Used To Play?

Callie sighed, rubbing her temples as the lift descended.  Her headache had been slowly worsening all day, and had not been helped by Arizona’s constant chatter about how she had been sending Alex to the back of beyond in the hopes he would make the only reasonable decision and choose to remain at Seattle Grace.  Tonight was meant to be movie night at the blonde’s, but after Callie had finally exploded at the tiny woman asking for a few minutes silence and telling her in no uncertain terms just how unfair she was being to Karev, that was now well and truly off the cards.  And if Callie was honest, she was glad of it.  She needed some space to clear her head, and a decent night’s sleep.

Stepping out of the elevator, she sighed at the familiar tone of her cell, pulling it out of her bag.  Another text from Arizona apologising.  Lovely.  With another sigh Callie dropped the phone back into her bag and kept walking.

“Callie?”

At the sound of her name Callie couldn’t have kept walking if she had wanted to.  Not when it was that voice that had called her name.  Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath before turning around.

“You dropped this,” said Erica gently, holding out Callie’s cell, which had obviously missed her bag.

For a moment Callie could do nothing; move, breathe, think…  Her entire being was too focused on the fact that Erica Hahn was standing before her.  Finally snapping into action, Callie reached for the phone, barely refraining from yelping at the all too familiar feeling of electricity that came as she brushed her fingers against the blonde’s.  “Thanks.”

Erica simply smiled.  To open her mouth would no doubt only lead to embarrassment.

“What are you doing here?” Callie finally asked, if a little more breathlessly than she would have liked.

Erica tried and failed not to notice.  “I’m picking up Yang, of all people.  I’m taking her to see the facility so far before she makes up her mind.”

Callie nodded.  “She said you had made her an offer.”  And ever since Callie had heard she had been finding new and inventive ways to ask Cristina about every aspect of her interaction with Erica.

“Yes.  I made her an offer, but I didn’t think it was fair to ask her to make a decision based on pictures printed on a sheet of paper, hence why I’m here.”

“Dr Hahn,” greeted Yang as she approached.

Without thinking, Callie automatically made the correction she had made so many times before.  “It’s Erica.”

Erica could only smile as the younger woman realised her own words and blushed deeply.

Yang raised an eyebrow, but left any comment unsaid.

“Well. We should get going.  The site manager said he’d only stay till nine,” said Erica.  Yang nodded, and made for the door, leaving Erica alone with Callie once more.  “It was nice to see you, Callie.”

Callie smiled.  “And you.”

Nodding, Erica started to step backwards towards the door.  “Well, I’m back in Seattle.  Maybe I’ll see you around sometime.  Bye Cal.”

Callie’s breath hitched at the familiar shortening of her name and she watched as Erica walked off, leaving the latina to take in the form fitting jeans and cute little leather jacket she was sporting.  Watching the blonde leave the building, Callie was glad to have been too tongue tied to say goodbye, because this wasn’t it.
