The room laid in semi-darkness. Callie closed the door and listened, deep breathing was the only thing she could hear. The room was big and the bed was the prominent part of it, she was careful not to wake the sleeping figure that lay under the covers.
As she knelt down beside the bed she saw the used tissues that lay scattered on the floor and for the first time looked at Erica. She looked disheveled and exhausted what she could see so far.
”Oh, Erica, my sweet Erica what have I done to you,” Callie whispered as she stroked Erica’s hair out of her face. Silent tears were running down Callie’s face as she took Erica’s hand in her and kissed her knuckles. It could have been minutes or hours as Erica finally stirred, Callie still had her hand in hers and rubbed it with her thumb.
As Erica became conscious of her surroundings and realized that there was someone else in the room she sat straight up in her bed. “What…” She looked beside her and jumped out of bed immediately.
”What are you doing here?”, she asked shocked. Callie tried to take a few steps towards her but Erica backed away and with her outstretched hand she tried to show Callie to stay away from her.
Callie held up both hands to indicate that she wouldn’t do her any harm, “I’m here to talk to you Erica, please let me explain.”
”YOU’VE DONE THAT ENOUGH IN THE PAST. NOW GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE, I DON’T WANT TO HEAR ANY OF YOUR EXCUSES AGAIN. NOW GET OUT OF HERE AND DON’T COME BACK AGAIN,” Erica yelled at her.
”NO, NOT THIS TIME. I CAN’T LEAVE AGAIN I’VE RUN BEFORE AND LOOK AT US NOW. TO WHERE THIS HAS LET US,” Callie yelled back.
”LEAVE CALLIE THERE IS NOTHING LEFT BETWEEN US,” Erica got angrier every minute.
”I CAN’T BELIVE THAT YOU REALLY THINK THAT,” Callie got frustrated not only with herself but with Erica too. “Erica, there is so much between us that I don’t know where to begin to tell you,” Callie sighed defeated, “The truth is Erica that you know me better than anyone else I think even better than my parents because you are my best friend and so much more.”
”And that’s why you went to everyone else to talk instead of me?”, Erica asked sarcastically, got in a defensive mode and crossed her arms in front of her chest, “That’s why you slept with Sloan, that’s why you defended the hospital even when you knew what happened was wrong and how Webber handled everything was false?”
”I know what I did was wrong in every possible way. It was wrong to believe that after I slept with Sloan and told you about it that we’re ok again, because it wasn’t ok. I know that because I lost you, you left me behind.”
”What do you expect me to say Callie, that I forgive you? What you did to me hurt so much, no one in my whole life had hurt me so much like you did Callie, absolutely no one,” Erica was near tears now because after all these weeks it still hurt, and she knew that this feeling wouldn’t go away anytime soon.
”If I could turn back time I would do it immediately Erica, Sloan wouldn’t be involved in this relationship and I wouldn’t be scared of what we have. But I can’t undo it, I wish I could….believe me, I wish I could do that but I can’t and I had to live with the consequences,” Callie said defeated, “But I don’t want to do that anymore because that’s not me. I haven’t fought for my marriage because it was useless because at that time you already put me back together and it was good. My chest is empty because you took my heart with you as you left, it hurts because there is this big hole in my chest. My heart belongs with you, ……that’s where it was all the time,” Callie could hardly speak through all her tears.
Erica stood there beside the other side of the bed, lost for words and defeated, “Why now Callie? Why do you come here now”
Callie walked slowly towards her and as she stood in front of Erica she took her right hand in hers and whispered, “Because I’m lost without you.” Callie smiled at Erica with tears in her eyes and cupped her cheek in her other hand to wipe away Erica’s tears, “Do you remember as I told that I get ahhh and clingy in a relationship….I’m now in the clingy part, much too late I know but I realized something myself lately that I should have told you a long time ago.”
”And what could that be?”, Erica asked as she closed her eyes because of Callie’s caressing hand on her face.
”That I love you with all my heart,” Callie whispered against Erica’s lips before she kissed her with such tenderness that it took Erica’s breath away. As Callie drew back she laid her forehead against Erica’s, “I’ve pretended long enough, I’ve fought long enough. I can’t stay away from you any longer….God Erica I’ve missed you so much.”
”I love you so much Callie, you have no idea,” whispered Erica as she drew Callie in a fierce embrace. “How come you knew where you would find me?”, Erica asked in a low voice.
”My family helped me, my dad told me in the end that your still here in Seattle. Why haven’t you ever told me that you’re a heiress?”, Callie asked with a smirk as she looked into Erica’s eyes.
”When was the right time Callie? I don’t want to be treated differently, you know I like my private life private it was no secret who my grandmother was.”
”It doesn’t matter to me if you’re a heiress or not, it matters to me that you’re Erica Hahn, the kick ass cardio goddess who I fell in love with,” Callie said as she drew Erica in a second kiss, it was a slow and tender one in the beginning but Erica wanted and needed more as she opened her mouth to drew her tongue over Callie’s upper lip to beg for entrance which Callie granted immediately.
They got lost in the most passionate kiss they ever shared. Callie, out of breath drew back and smiled at Erica as she realized that her hands got tangled in Erica’s blond curls.
Both panted for breath, “I love you, but I think we should stop for now. My parents are downstairs and I don’t want them near when we make love for the first time,” Callie smirked.
”I think your right,” said Erica, she drew Callie near again and whispered in her ear, “I don’t want them nearby when you scream my name in passion.”
Callie stood still as Erica passed her and went to the door and got out of the room, Callie hadn’t moved an inch. “Are you coming Callie, I think it’s time to get to know your parents,” Erica called for her.
Callie turned on her heel and ran after Erica, that’s what she should have done in the beginning and from now on would do forever.
