"What did the NY Daily News say about George?"

One of the hints that Ben W. gave about George and his fake relationship with Monika, was this blind item that was published in the NYDN right after the staged pics from Hawaii (December 2007):

"Which actor from a hit show who has been in a fake relationship for the publicity, enjoyed an undercover date with his boyfriend recently at Paris Commune in the West Village?"

CSI is a hit show and 'undercover' sounds like someone from a crime drama. And who was in NYC for a Tommy Hilfiger Denim Store Opening in December 2007?

Eric.

This BI is marked as solved:

actor from a hit show: George Eads
fake relationship: Monika Casey
boyfriend: Eric Szmanda

(blind item 152)

Thanks for posting.

"During our interview, in which all the personal questions were banned, Eads goes nowhere near the rumours, Casey or his love life"

Interesting. George didn't have any trouble to announce his engagement to the world on the Late Late Show last November. But now, he doesn't allow any personal questions. Hmm.....

Well he's already announced it, and made sure everyone knew he was "straight". Now he can be "private" about it. Oy vey.

Oh dear, at the very beginning I thought George was a greatactor with a great personality.

I would have understoof if he decided to keep his love life hidden because, yes, being gay makes it harderto find work as an actor.

BUT! Bearding? that's unfair towards EVERYONE.Eric,Monica and more importantly, himself.

But who cares. I don't.

Love the article though and I'm pretty sure they read this community here oO

not commenting about his sexuality is one thing, but bearding is just .... pathetic, weak.

kinda lost some respect for him

Eric's interview on femalefirst.com anonymous March 27 2010, 01:27:42 UTC
The things Eric says in this recent interview about the show and how he still enjoys working in CSI and wants to stay till the end, are identical, almost word for word, to what George is saying in all his recent interviews.

Looks like Eric and George are rubbing off on each other. I hope they are still rubbing off on each other in more ways than one....;))

"The mood in the set is very good. We are still having fun. We've been through a great deal of changes over the last couple of seasons as any show would after nine years, but we have a job to do and owe it to our fans to give it out all to the very end."

<<"I hope that they are still rubbing off on each other">>

Me too. :)

On previous discussions, people wondered if Eric would still feel comfortable working with George after he decided to go down the bearding route.

I think this interview may clear things up:

FF: "You've been on the show since 2000, what's kept you there for so long? It's obviously a huge commitment....

ERIC: "It's a great show to work on, thanks to an amazing crew, cast and writing staff. If I wasn't enjoying myself, I wouldn't be doing it."

I've been knocking around a theory about this whole thing lately based on how comfortable George and Eric are together.

Maybe, CBS approached them way back when and said to do something about these rumors or they'll be killed off the show or something. So, George loving Eric like he does, decided to fall on the sword and take on the beard. He knew that whoever did it would have to take on the grief and the people turning on him, but he did it anyway so Eric wouldn't have to.

"Maybe CBS approached them way back when and said to do something about those rumors or they'll be killed off the show or something."

That's my theory too. And the reason Billy Masters wrote this blind item about George 'booting' Eric ('his live -in love'), to avoid being killed off the show ("Grave Danger" anyone?)

"Could it be that a certain television twosome is kaput? So say sources on the set with the close-cropped cutie, who point out the extraordinary steps one will take, to avoid being killed off -including booting a live-in love. Egads, I'd probably feel buried alive under all of those hair products."

'Egads', 'close-cropped cutie', 'buried alive', 'hair products'...LOL, why Billy Masters didn't simply say that this blind item was about George and Eric? This item is barely 'blind'!

It's the BI #35:

i dont think the author of the article liked george or maybe its the bearding she doesnt like.

plus i loved how she/he ,mentioned how not funny he was. lol.
I have read and watched some of his interviews, sometimes his jokes are a little lame. Which makes me trust the author of this article more than i normally would.

If George kicked Eric out of the house in 2005. Then they are really not together now.

I hope Eric has moved on, and that he is happy. I really dont want him being hurt by all this unpleasent bearding.

Did anyone else get the feeling that George directing and George getting engaged is linked somehow.

I mean its not like George is appearing in other TV shows / movies. Basically CSI is his meal ticket, and maybe bearding is his only way to keep it.

So sad.

I know I was a bit harsh on George in this post, but I really do like him. If any of the rumours are true, I wonder how he can live a lie.

George hasn't been able to do much outside of CSI because of his back so what happens from here remains to be seen. I was blown away with the fact that he had a 35% chance of being paralyzed. That had to be so scary for him.

I know that I'm probably alone in this, but I think George looking at paralysis was scary for Eric too. I mean, can you imagine seeing the man you love going through something like that? I truly think it was Eric who helped him through that hard time.

At first I too was mad about the bearding, but I'm really thinking that Eric is supportive because it was a way for them to keep their jobs. It wasn't until I saw them rubbing legs on ET before the season that it hit me. It was subtle, but there.

If I'm right in my assumptions, I'm really sad that the fans turned on George so badly. I wish that he and/or Eric can just tell everybody what's really going on. I would love for them to get in front of the camera, hand in hand and spill.
