Who

You know, if we only had some medium through which we could ferry digital moving pictures around the world, I'd really be enjoying this season of Doctor Who. The past three episodes in particular would have been incredibly strong.

And, as a heads-up for someirishdude, I have two words for you: Carey Mulligan.

What are these "digital moving pictures" of which you speak?

You'd take your basic talkie and convert the image into signals of electricity that could be coherently reconstituted into a facsimile of its original form. Dare I dream?

That has as much chance of succeeding as someone flying into space. A pipe dream, I say.

Indeed. I might really have enjoyed the particular twist on the "what if I were normal" trope, and I might never look at statues the same way again.

Alas, I think I would still be concerned that Martha hadn't developed much of an arc yet.

You wouldn't consider doe-eyed infatuation and near-Victorian pining an arc? I mean, if you were to see such behavior...

I expected to see a little more out of her character when we met the rest of her family, had I seen such a thing. The end of that episode, were it possible for me to see it, might suggest her mother causes problems down the road.

Indeed, had I seen from Smith and Jones that she was a medical resident, I would have thought she would give the Doctor a run for his theoretical money in both the cleverness and arrogance departments.

However, were I to have seen the season so far, including this Runaway Bride that I am told exists, I might go so far as to have a speculation about the season's end. And if I had, that speculation would be that The Doctor himself would become the big bad, based on the unheard-by-me line, "You need someone to tell you when to stop," and that this companion Martha, whom I have not seen, would be the one to stop him. Theoretically, of course. But I might be a little disappointed, had I seen any of this, that there wasn't much Martha yet to do the stopping.

this is exhausting

Were I able to see this play out, your take on things would make for a very interesting turn of events. As, theoretically speaking, there are only three episodes left in the season, there appears to be a lot left to clean up, according to my sources.

Saxon.

Rose, who I have seen legally on the SciFi Channel, came to be a formidable force, even if her smarts might not be in the same league as Martha's are purported to be.
