I caused controversey at work today. Sum1 who is quite young (21) split up with her husband who and they hadn't been together long, so obviously it was the talk of the office (i haven't heard people gossiping like that since my spar days). I don't work with the most exciting people to be fair. Its a worrying state of affairs when i have the healthiest social life out of a whole office. I agree with you about male friends, though i do find they go very quiet when they have a new girlfriend.
