These idiots need to burn. I see absolutely no difference between the "War on Drugs" and this sort of drive... both lead to strengthening of the police state to "protect" the populace from itself.

My view of this group is sharply colored by the fact that its primary financial supporters are corps in the industries that it comments upon (for example, Micro$oft is a big contributor, and this group is rabidly against open source software).

In other words, it's "astroturf"... a purely PR-related entity that takes on the appearance of a grass-root movement.

That article alone has changed, somewhat, my point of view. You'd assume anything that "sticks it to big pharm" would be a good thing. But then we forget that so much innovation has come from the success of such companies ( ... )

I'm not so sure that, looking back a hundred years from now, that the invention of all these "miraculous" drugs will be judged to be in the human race's best interest after all, assuming that there are any "conscious" entities around to make such an analysis.

I'm not sure either. I was kind of trying to be devil's advocate. Upon re-read, I think maybe I should have been clearer. Sometimes I'm too careful about making sure noone gets their feelings hurt. Bad me. No prozac. ;)

I'm all for the free market economy and property rights, but, the thing about the pharmacutical companies claims that they need to charge uber expensive prices in the US to sustain research, development, and the like is, forgive my french, a load of crap. Basically this is how it works out ( ... )
