So I sent off all the forms for housing and council tax benefit and heard nothing. Then I got a summons for non payment of council tax. So I phoned Capita and they said "no problem just come in and fill in a new set of forms and it will all be sorted". Which I did. So, Crapita fail to sort your council tax/HB. Then they get to bill the council for sending in the bailiffs?

And of course, first rule of dealing with bailiffs is:
Don't open the door when they come round.
Better still, make sure all the doors and windows are locked. They can't break down a locked door but they can get in though one that isn't locked or an open window. More advice at http://www.insolvencyhelpline.co.uk/debt_basics/bailiff-guide.htm

What happens is that Capita do the administration for Lambeth, the administration for the Court, and then use their own subsidiary as bailiffs. In theory there are all sorts of checks and balances. In practise it's possible for them to go all the way through the process with the only input from outside of Crapita being a court clerk signing a long list of "uncontested" liability orders ( ... )
