2) How do you feel about society marginalizing, alienating, and making outsiders of people. Specifically, is it neccesary to maintaining social norms? Do we have to have a "them" to have an "us"?
we must always have an 'other' with which to compare and contrast ourselves in order to maintain cultural security... as creating the 'us vs other' dichotomy is so vital to the construction and perpetuation of culture, it becomes important in maintaining societal norms...

2) Yes, but only with current human neuroarchitecture. It is not inherently necessary for coherent groups of sapients.
