I knew Eric's sister is older than him, so I was thinking he might just be standing on something.

Shouldn't that TV go with an old-style DVD player, with one knob for track, and if you set that to 'U', you can use the other knob for the special features? Man, that was such a pain when I was watching The A Team and Dukes of Hazzard DVDs in 1982 or so.
