I really wish we had a washer and dryer here. Last place I lived had them inside our unit and it was so nice to be able to do other things while the clothes were cleaning themselves.

I used to go to that kitschy dreadful place, Sit and Spin, in Belltown, probably after your era. I would bus there from Fremont, because there was only one laundromat near me, a largely windowless place with only one exit. Creepy.
Our washing machine now is coin-op AND we pay the landlord for water! WTF? The basement is so dusty it has ropes of dust; it's like a superfund site. Yet that is still preferable to walking to the laundromat with all my laundry on my back, or in a cart.

You pay water?? Nobody does that. How odd. On the other hand, I wonder why it is that most landlords don't charge for water. I guess they figure it into the rent because it is probably a pain in the ass to meter water to different apartments.
