So, I'm halfway through The Half Blood Prince. I know what you're thinking. Yes, the book has been out for almost a week. No, I haven't finished it yet

I'm continually baffled that there's apparently some standard for consuming pop culture. I ran into this sort of thing with video games, something I've NEVER been on the cutting edge of as far as purchasing and then playing. Apparently there's also some statute of limitations regarding how long one can talk about or even PLAY said games. Needless to say, I'm always behind. Games aren't a consumer hobby for me, their pieces of art (at least the games I play) and/or fantastic stories or ideas. Others are just damn fun and never lose their charm. But, whatever. I guess that's how the industry keeps plugging along

I wholeheartedly agree. I am also one who is so far behind this thing they call "the cutting edge" that I start to make up my own standards because keeping up with the newest stuff is too much work. Being in a medieval reenactment group doesn't help; even if I do get the info from the internet, it's based on stuff the might have been published 10 years ago. But I've always thought that keeping current with that kind of stuff is a big load of crap, and making you feel like you should keep up is another ploy to make you spend more money on the crap you don't need anyway.
In terms of video games, I am also in agreement. I played Ocarina of Time because of the colors, and found out later that the plot was awsome too. Then I tried to play Majora's Mask, but for some reason got bored with it. Now I'm playing Windwaker, and it is again with the awsome. :)We'll see if I become addicted to playing, but for now I'm just glad to play fun games with people I like.

But, yeah... kids or adults. It doesn't matter.
It still makes me smile.
