and on a serious note, yeah this is fucked. all this over a 16 year old. isn't awesome that greek kids attack cop cars all the time and here we just wear "not my president" shirts and vote for obama????

i really should find it again, but the bbc also had an article about how, historically speaking, greeks are a particularly rebellious people (like Americans are particularly violent, maybe). i don't mean to undermine what's going on in Athens, but recognizing the somewhat psychological side of it is significant enough to be mentioned.
a bit unrelated but also interesting: universities are asylums there - police aren't allowed to enter university grounds.
