Crack Smoking Job Seekers

May 22, 2007 21:21

A verbatim quote from an actual resume submitted for a sales position:

"I am ready, and available, to begin consulting for companies large, medium and small. I know how to squeeze the most juice out of the lemon, all I need to know now is who has a pile of lemon they need to convert to juice?"

WTF?

*snort*

Guess that's what happens when your previous job was at a lemon-aid stand...

Don't you like to think this is a new phenomena. However, around 1993, when I still worked in the Loop for my old company, with my boss ATT, we were looking for a new hire, someone I would potentially supervise. We received several HAND WRITTEN resumes, at least one was written in pencil. These were sent to my old company in response to an ad in the "Tribune" for professional level, college degree holding individual, to handle issues of occupational health and safety and environmental regulations.

Unless it's handwritten in fine calligraphy, that's just totally inexcusable. The calligraphy might fly depending on the company. :)

Naturally, I passed this on to the Dilbert newsletter--maybe it will make True Tales of Induhviduals. :)
