There've been some big things going on lately! It's late and I'm tired, so I'm not going to drag this out, but I wanted to write a little something before I forget to do it.

First of all, Matt finally was sent to the promotion board on August 29th and passed with flying colors. Thank God!!!! He'll be pinning on SGT on October first. Yay!!!! It' ( Read more... )

Thanks! :-) The Field Band is definitely not thousands. I don't know an exact number, but I want to say somewhere in the range of 150 to 200 people. There's a concert band, several small ensembles, a rock band, jazz band and a chorus.

Wow, congrats on Matt getting the position! You must be so excited. And congrats on his promotion. Yeah, my hubby passed the board for E5 at the beginning of August so he was supposed to be a Sgt as of Sept 1st. Well as he was preparing to PCS and S1 kept sending my hubby around to get his promotion package set. Basically he was doing their job, and in the end it barely got in on time at the end of August. But he was told that since they got it in late they would send in a letter/form to make it retroactive for the day he went to the board ( ... )

Ok, so I just goofed. I just brought up to my hubby about his promotion and how it sucks about him having to wait an additional month. He told me that he just found out that he's getting the promotion Oct. 1st because it normally takes 60 days from the day you pass the board to get it.

So I guess he never really needed that letter and couldn't get promoted any earlier than Oct. 1st because that is 60 days from when he passed the Board. He also said you can't get promoted earlier than 60 days from the day you passed the Board. He's Infantry and I don't know if this is different with each MOS. It's starting to get confusing for me now, lol. Anyways, congrats again on the promotion and new position.

Thanks so much! I asked Matt about the 60 days thing and he said that used to be the rule, but it has since been changed. Seems like a silly rule anyway!

As far as celebration goes, we have a friend that just got promoted to E6, so once Matt gets his promotion, we're going to get a sitter and go out for a really nice dinner with her and her husband. Should be fun!
