The Globe and Mail, even though I disapprove of it, provided two interesting bits of news today.

First, not all Conservative MPs are bad, or at least, they weren't until today. The Party has just kicked Halton MP Garth Turner out of its ranks because he was disclosing too much "confidential information" on his weblog. You can visit his site at ( Read more... )

So, "the United States will: preserve its rights, capabilities, and freedom of action in space; dissuade or deter others from either impeding those rights or developing capabilities intended to do so; take those actions necessary to protect its space capabilities; respond to interference; and deny, if necessary, adversaries the use of space capabilities hostile to U.S. national interests."

AKA the US is getting nervous about how quickly China's developing their space programs.

I don't think there's a whole lot they can do about China at this point. China has already done studies proving that after an all-out nuclear war, there would still be millions of Chinese citizens left over to fight another day, whereas the US would be wiped out. China's just so big, no matter how nervous we get, I don't think anyone in the world could afford a real fight with it.

Okay - series of things:

1) I don't tend to inherently trust studies one country does about it's ability to survive a nuclear war. It's not like it's in their best interest to say "yah, well, we'd get our asses handed to us"

2) Just because there might be a good arguement to idea that it doesn't matter what the US does, it's not like it won't try it...
