it's strange, but it just hit me that i could be an exceptional graduate student if i just cared a little more. the idea itself isn't really that strange, just that it feels like a grand revelation. i know, some of you are going to say "that's what we've been telling you for years" but i guess that's the difference between being told about

I'm all for you staying a lousy graduate student and being miserable where you are. It'd make my failures a lot more tolerable if I can point to you and your unhappiness. Being an excellent graduate student sounds like a lot of work. Wouldn't be any time to make us all cookies and whine about how I didn't get you taco bell. That's pretty much a deal-breaker isn't it?
