The sun shone bright in the unnaturally clear LA air. The birds twittered ceaselessly and other small wildlife busied themselves about the small patch of perfect green high atop a building amid the crowded city skyscrapers.
Tara turned the page of her book, amazingly not some dusty, crusty tome, but something off the current bestseller's list; she adjusted her shades, and lazily stretched on her beach blanket. Taking in a big relaxing breath, she was completely enjoying the feel of the sun's warmth on her not-very-often exposed skin. It had been quite some time since she had had the luxury of time off and daylight, much less both together.
As she lounged, a soft hand snaked its way tenderly about her waist while a silky set of lips nuzzled her ear.
“We should really put some lotion on you before you end up crispy enough to be taken home in a bucket with biscuits and slaw.”
Tara closed her book, rolled onto her back and giggled, “I'm fine. What's a little sunburn when we can actually spend the whole day alone together in all this glorious bright and color? Look. Not a single dark dank sewer drain or nocturnal planet in sight.”
This elicited a soft chuckle, “You're a true nature lover, you are.”
Tara gazed deep into her lover's eyes and smiled wide, “You, better than anyone, would know.”
Her lover gazed back, “Mmmm, gorgeous, I certainly do. And I cherish each and every moment we do get to spend together alone, away from the dark dank, and all... human-y.”
“Human-y or not I still love you,” Tara declared, emphasized with a stroke to the cheek and a kiss.
Nina then rolled onto her back and folded her arms behind her head, a contented smile spread across her face, “Who would have thought a witch and a werewolf.”
Tara smiled softly, knowingly, “It's been done before,” she commented casually, then leaning into Nina and placing her head on her chest she asked, “Have you ever dyed your hair red?”
Nina craned her neck and tipped the edge of her sunglasses to quirk an eyebrow her direction, the comment completely lost on her.
