[Well, then. She couldn't help but wonder what would be important enough that Spike demanded they speak in person, but she had some vague hopes, at least. Maybe he was good for something after all. She wasn't doing anything else, anyway, which is probably why it took her not twenty minutes to approach the spot Spike had pinged to her.]

[It was a pretty big mess they'd made. Felt like it, anyway. Spike hadn't moved far since the end of his fight with Senji. Hadn't even seen what kind of traces of it were left of it littering the streets. As fast as things disappeared around there, for all he knew it was already gone. It probably would have been smart to go inside instead of the alley he dragged himself to, but Spike wasn't really in the mood for doing any explaining to the locals, or anything other than sleep, really. Which he had for the past... however long that had been ( ... )

[There were still remnants scattered here and there, and Makina raised an eyebrow to see them, but moved on quickly enough. She was less than eager to go down an alleyway in pursuit of Spike. Not that anything that might be down an alleyway here would probably be a threat to her. Still, she hadn't reached the age she was by being a foolhardy idiot, and so her hand came to rest on her sabre as she advanced.

Whereas, she knew exactly why she answered; she wanted and needed to catch the Deadmen as soon as possible, and she hadn't heard from Spike for a while. Surely, if he was calling her he had something to tell her.

As she approached, she narrowed her eyes. There was something about his posture that made her wonder exactly --

She strode right up to him, her head held high the way she always did, looking down at Spike, gaze hardened.]

You called?

[Spike smiled, that cold ironic kind of smile he has. He almost let himself be flattered that she was so punctual for him. Lucky too. Of all the things he could have done, facing someone without knowing his strength was probably pretty reckless. But at least now he felt vindicated for taking the job.]

Yeah. I met with him. Well, two of them actually.

[His voice stayed lower than normal, and he swayed just slightly in his stance before balancing himself again. Definitely should have brought the grenades.

He took another drag of his cigarette and stared back at her, ]

Looks like you've got bigger problems than you thought.

[Yeah, that was pretty reckless, but at least she'd have her answers, now wouldn't she? Maybe she'd change her attitude towards him now.

Or you know, maybe not, since this was Makina and she was stubborn when she thought she was right - being used to usually being right, after all --]

Which ones?

[She took another step forward with narrowed eyes and let the cigarette thing go just this once. She had better things to do than wrinkle her nose at a little bit of smoke.]

Is that so?

[He didn't respond for a minute, smoking as a cover while he debated how much to tell her. Then he took a slow glance around, double checking that nobody was within earshot. Finally he decided on something and cleared his throat.]

Nagi and Senji. You said you hadn't seen them in a fight. So I'm guessing you didn't know about their abilities.

[Wedging the cigarette in his lips, he slowly loosened his jacket and peeled away some of the thin fabric that was still wet with the blood that stained much of his torso. Most of the wounds were shallow, some were already closed, but it still looked like he'd been through a shredder recently.]

They're not going to be so easy to take down.

[She had already checked the area to make sure it was clear, but she was vaguely approving to see that Spike was willing to take such a precaution as well.]

Abilities?

[She took another step forward, and found that the suspicions she had begun to have about smelling blood were entirely true. She had certainly seen worse in her days. All the same, the torn flesh of his chest had her attention.]

Tell me everything.

[Everything, huh? From her question, didn't seem like she knew much about them. Spike flicked the end of his cigarette away and slipped his hands into his pockets. His smile dropped as he did and he lost his usual casual tone when he spoke again.]

Don't ask me how they do it, I'm still looking into that, but they use their blood as a weapon.

[By now she had noticed the bloodstains and he shrugged his shoulders lightly.]

From what I saw, they can turn it into anything from projectiles to blades. And they move fast. [He kept his eyes level on hers.] You were right about them being dangerous. Normal people wouldn't stand a chance defending themselves against those guys. They could make a pretty big mess of the city if they got in the mood.
