Well, at least today wasn't boring

Right, so today, I'm in the soft materials workshop, trying to get my pieces ready for assessment on Tuesday.
So, I'm there at the sewing machine minding my own business, trying to get sequins to sew in the right pattern; when I suddenly feel a sharp pain in my finger.

Turns out I put my finger too near the machine.
The needle went through my nail.
.....And came out the other side of my finger...
..And the needle was still in my finger..
...And I was stuck to the sewing machine unable to pull away.

Yeah. Ouch.

Funny thing was, it didn't hurt that much. I figured I was just in shock and my brian had yet to process that there was a FUCKING NEEDLE gone completely through my FINGER!
What was worse was everyone else's reactions. At first, a few people laughed 'cos they'd thought I'd sewed my shirt to the machine. Then people started to realise that: yes, it was in fact my finger that was stuck, and: yes, that was blood covering my finger.
After that, much freaking out occurred. Though, surprisingly, none of it was from me. I just sat there laughing at how insane it was that everyone else was having panic attacks and asking could someone please go find the tutors so I could detached from the machine and go to the doctors please. One girl, Michelle did not lose her head and helped unscrew the needle from the machine so that I could at least move (yes, it was still embedded in my finger at this point). Oh, and turns out our soft materials tutor had choose the absolute WORST moment to go get coffee in a cafe down the road and not tell anyone. So, eventually another tutor was found and I went to the campus doctor who was luckily able to remove the needle so I wouldn't have to go to A&E.

She managed to pull the thing and, once again it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. That was one of the things I kept thinking about the whole time: this hurts way less than it should. I mean, yeah, it hurt, but it was no more than a dull throb, like from a nasty paper cut, not OH GOD, A NEEDLE'S THROUGH MY FINGER, THE PAIN

So after that they made me go home 'cos I had a case of shock and they thought I might end up fainting if I stayed. So, when I went to go back to the Core floor to get my bags (this is about an hour after I left mind) I found out that the whole year knew about me. Great.

So now I'm home and hoping my finger gets better soon, and wondering way I'm one of the only people not to make a huge deal over this.
