BBC4 documentary on Tuesday night gave rare chance to see moving pictures of Louis Prima (as well as contemporary swinger (not like that!) Ray Gelato, who is the brother of one of my secretarial colleagues, star link!). I remember that bloke from the Chevalier Brothers line in onstage patter better than I recall their music. Come to think of it I remember that Greyhound music venue better as well (and some cocktail sausages I ate in 1978).

Has Gelato become a celeb chef like that fool from the Bongo Brothers? With a name like Gelato he'd go far (says R.Perrin).

I got hoodwinked by someone who's studying philosophy bringing up zombies on LJ. I thought it was a whimsical reference and replied in kind but apparently there are serious ontological debates involving putative zombies. My response sounded very dopey when I was shown to be questioning graduates in all sorts of ologies.

A sobering experience ...and what I mean!

Well, I will keep quiet about zombies, in that case!

I think Ray Gelato might bar-B-Q a few chops socially, but the closest he comes to TV cookery is singing his novelty not-quite-hit Pizza You on This Morning!

First place I encountered the 'rude' meaning of Beaver was in Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut. He even draws a little diagram.
