Now is not a good time to work in the NHS

Well, I have just heard on the Radio that the Trust I work for is about to shed 720 jobs! Nice to be kept in the loop. Allegedly we should find out tomorrow who it will affect. It is quite a big reduction from 5,000 staff ( Read more... )

My word redundancy does seem to follow you around a bit! Oh dear. Well I guess there's only about a 10% chance you'll be affected so look on the bright side.

Hope you're doing ok other than that..... :D

Possibly we could use her as an agent provocateur in places that we wanted to make cuts?

Hope all goes well for you.

Ooops, sorry.
You do seem to have seriuosly bad luck with jobs. Mind you, my place makes cuts every year, it being a government funded thing, it's just that i keep being happy about reducing my hours!

I hope they keep you or you manage to find soemthing with job security in this ever wobbly world.

Definitely a CV moment. I'm going to shelter behind my boss's boss's extraordinary ability to hold and retain his department. And, um, yeah, update that CV and check the market.

Boss did try to make us bomb proof, but she got stabbed in the back quite comprehensively. I am considering going back to uni Feb 2007, so temp work wouldn't be a bad thing if it came to it.

There seems to be much fiddling with Healthcare Trusts at the moment. Personally, I wish they'd trim back the 'experts' who keep coming up with these marvellous reorg ideas, not to mention the bureaucrats.

I hope that it doesn't affect you.

Got your texts. It would be good to see you if you are about.

Hi, thank you for your message. The trust I work for is now on it's third set of consultants. The main issue seems to be that it is a PFI hospital which make it a lot more expensive to run. The new national tariff doesn't reflect the fact that we cost more to run, or that we are split over three main acute sites. In a nut shell the Government set it up to fail.

I may be around in June, as soon as I have dates I shall let you know.

The more I read about the Health Service, the more I feel it is being stitched up royally generally. Maybe ministers should play sim hospital rather than messing with the real thing.

It would be cool to see you so let us know if you are planning to come down.
