Hurricane didn't do much. It's always nice when disaster is averted, but it makes the fretting and evacuating seem silly in hindight, even if "8 metre storm surge" + "town built at sea-level" makes fretting and evacuating a wise thing to do.

That was the first thing I heard this morning when I woke up, that Placentia was fine, and 8 metre storm surge turned into 1 metre, and that everything was okay. Nice news to wake up to :).

Still, I always think it's better to be sensible in that regard than to be caught utterly on the hop as we were with the bushfires in Victoria in February and in Canberra in 2003, lives lost, massive property damage, etc. Either way, I'm glad Placentia is ok.
