Here's an interesting website for those of you who are, like me, geography dorks. It's the Degree Confluence Project. The goal of the project is to visit each of the latitude and longitude integer degree intersections in the world (e.g. 61˚N, 145˚W) and to take pictures at each location. Wait wait, you have a habit of going to state high points?! Tristan and I were reading criagslist "strictly platonic" listings once (for fun, of course), and we came across this guy who wanted to go to all the state high points BUT HAD NO CAR, so he wanted someone to drive him to all the points. We thought it was absurd at the time, but now that you mention it it does hold an odd appeal.

Haha, the most absurd part of that was that the guy somehow intended for people to drive him to all 50.

Yeah, it is oddly appealing... apparently to a lot of people too, because there are entire websites about it, complete with advice and maps and whatnot. There are also published books. I have been to 18, mostly easy ones on the East Coast. There are some really difficult high points (especially Mt. McKinley in Alaska) that I don't ever expect to cross of the list, so I'll settle for maybe 45. I definitely do want to at least visit all 50 states, though. I'm actually not too far from that goal.

So are you coming to Reno/Tahoe??
