a quarter? considering the unemployment rate in the 80's never reached past 11% thats pretty hard to imagine. and how are we defining poverty? america's still in the richest 2% of the world. and you cant just read a book thats one side and nod your head and not read another (atlas shrugged?) you learn by reading different viewpoints. if u cant get through rand because u disagree with it too much, then youre probably not thinking through it. your pal, becky

"a quarter?" you ask? yes, that's right a quarter. i don't know why you're talking about rand though. what does she have to say about poverty in the 80's? i'm guessing nothing

the reason why i told u to read some rand (who is not perfect, but shes pretty on) was because i know you couldnt get through that book but you could get thruogh that heavy "people's" history of the u.s. the only reason we were in a deep recession in the 80's is because johnson fucked it up almost beyond repair, with his incredible spendign while cutting taxes. we had to endure the worst recession since WWII, in the 80's. but recession's a good thing/it curbs inflation. tax cuts for the rich, doesnt mean they keep it under their mattress. they invest it, they do stuff with it, which helps people more than the govt handing out $5 to every kid. more people and the unemployed can be paid more when their bosses have money. why do u think the 90's was a pretty good time for us
