Am I a tolerant person?

A patient person?

Understanding and compassionate person?

I like to think I am or at the very least I like to think I take steps to become one.

Do I really appreciate other peoples opinions and points of view? Do I have to?

If I stopped being these things, would I turn into the opposite person of who I am now? Am I ( Read more... )

henry james said that most of the time, when people think they're thinking, they're just rearranging their prejudices. there's some truth to that but i don't think that trying to be tolerant and openminded is something that happens overnight. it's as much a result of maturity as anything else.

Interesting. I agree with you that with maturity comes an open mind and tolerance. Only, I know a lot of older people who aren't very tolerant or open-minded, but they sure are fucking old.
