math at uva? also, a dream.

a little bird told me that math at uva is non-calculator at the lower levels. this makes me very confused and worried, as i am completely helpless at math without my calculator. i ask you, uva attendees, to come to my aid.

what could he possibly mean by "non-calculator?" does that mean you cant use calculators on tests, or at all, or what?

which math are you taking? from what i observed of my friend andy last year, the intro calcs were really bitchy... they would delve into some stuff that my engineering friends (who were in diff eq and linear algebra) had some trouble with. but that was mostly on the webwork.

i think that having taken calc at tj will obviously help you out, but moreso than other kids entering the intro classes. bring your calculator with you. i took multivar (listed as a 200 level) and i could use my calc on homework, but not quizzes or tests. usually though the quizzes/tests are easier than the homework.
