I haven't received any hate mail yet. I understand dommes do get a lot of it, but I just get creepy love letters. On the other hand, you'll be speaking on asexuality, so it might be different.

You can follow tumblrs, LiveJournal and any other blog via RSS feed. I use feedly and it has been a lifesaver. Also doesn't require you to know what an RSS feed is, you just search for the website address and voila.

Mind you, I would also love it if you had a Twitter account so that we could be friends there. But it is a time sink. To get followers you have to interact. Though if you want to interact anyway, it's worth it.

Actually, asexuality isn't particularly high on the list of things I'm uncomfortable speaking about in public. The topics I have in mind are taboo enough that I'm not actually 100% sure that you wouldn't judge me (I don't *think* you would, but.. yeah).

Thanks for the headsup on RSS of tumblrs. I'll have to start making more use of my feedly account

One reason I'm really hoping you'll join me on Twitter is that I value friends who will stay level-headed and open-hearted even when they viscerally disagree with me. I think you're one of them. And I'm trying to be. Let's hope I succeed?

awww, thanks :)

I can't imagine you actually ever judging anyone unless they were directly responsible for something morally reprehensible, which says a lot about how nervous I am about some of those topics. You make a good argument though. I think at this point I'm leaning towards a Twitter + some kind of blog or tumblr that I can link to when I have something particularly long and/or better-thought-out to say.

Tentatively offered: Metafilter.

Thanks! I'll take a look. A glance makes it look like it's basically reddit, but with a much better userbase?

I'm not sure about comparing them-- I don't spend much time at either of them, but metafilter (and ask.metaphilter) seem to have decent communities and they permit anonymity.

You could start your own blog.

But it very-much depends on what you want from your online presence.

If you want to have a social experience, then either start searching out more people on LJ/DW or join Tumblr.

If you want to own your own long-term presence then relying on other people is not the way to go, you should be grabbing your own domain, setting up Wordpress (or equivalent) and then spreading out from there.
