So I bought an LCD for my laptop on eBay, as my old one was cracked. Of course the new one I got doesn't work, though it does match up very nicely. All I can see is a dim picture of Windows XP that only takes up about 3/4 of the screen ( Read more... )

that sucks dude. since it's taking up 3/4 of the screen, do you think maybe your laptop is trying to output a different resolution than the screen uses?

Nah, it does it during the POST screen too... the little Sony Vaio splash screen is just barely visible. I think part of the problem is that the backlight is not working... that doesn't explain the other wierdness though.

I dunno. I'll figure it out, either the screen isn't compatible (the seller states it's compatible with my model in the auction), or it's defective. Either way I have grounds for complaint.
