End of the Year Meme
What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
I bought a car in my name. I went contra dancing. I had an honest to god discussion about retirement. I turned down nookie from a really cute girl.
Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't really make new year's resolutions, I make random resolutions throughout the year. This year, though, I'ma quit smoking and lose some weight. I miss being cut and buff.
What countries did you visit?
I only managed to hit two states besides NC in 2007. I certainly didn't make it to any foreign countries.
What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Financial aid.
What date(s) from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
September 1, 2007: The day Appalachian State rocked the football world. December 14, 2007: The day App State once again made football history by winning three consecutive national championships. [sometime in late July], 2007: The day I got the acceptance letter from App.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I managed to get myself back in school, get it paid for, and get good grades. I rule! I also managed to get a piece I did published in App's creative journal.
What was your biggest failure?
I didn't realize that the state wouldn't pay out my sick time when I resigned. That was over 100 hours I could've sat on my ass and been paid for. Also, I suck at money management.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
No illnesses other than colds and sniffles; no injuries other than little cuts, scrapes, and bruises. Knock on wood.
What was the best thing you bought?
Tuition. And my gold tie. And my iPod.
Where did most of your money go?
Macado's.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going back to school. App State football. Myrtle Beach. Getting Published.

I'm fatter. I'm gonna change that, though.

I'm several thousand dollars in debt now, and no longer quite as gainfully employed as I was.
What do you wish you'd done more of?
Calling in to work sick, writing, traveling

Procrastinating, and that's about it.
Did you fall in love in 2007?
Eh.

Nada.
What was your favorite TV program?
College Football. And House. It's like a guilty pleasure.
Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate takes too much effort. If anything, I've forgiven people that I might have hated at this time last year.

Neverwhere and Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman
What were your greatest musical discoveries?
The Bastard Fairies, Regina Spektor, Figurine, Klezska, Kill Hannah, Majek Fashek
What did you want and get?
I wanted a new mp3 player, I got an iPod. I wanted a new car, I got Jen. I wanted a new job. I'm working on that one.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I think I ate Thai food with Hannah. I'da been turning 23.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Deeper pockets/my own place
What kept you sane?
Writing, driving, smoking, and occasionally drinking
Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I don't keep up with celebrities all that much. I hear that Miss Teen South Carolina is coming to App. I bet she's superficially attractive.
Who did you miss?
Raleigh people, mostly.
Who was the best new person you met?
Amber and all the people I now know through her.
