There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.

A famous quote -- maybe even true, but as Kelly stared up at the mangled, bloody body pinned to the hotel wall, she began to suspect that Shakespeare had never met a real murderer.

Tri's body hung upside-down in a cruel mockery of crucifixion, intestines spilling in a glistening mess of red and brown. Her face was wrecked: claw marks in place of cheeks, gaping holes in place of eyes. Hardly human. Utterly human.

Kelly leaned over and retched.

"Oh, God..." Nhaca whispered, stepping back. "What the hell?"

Erica's expression was grim as she looked up at the corpse. "Not exactly my idea of a wake-up call."

"Could use some more pancakes and waffles and cheesy radio, myself," Jackie said with a strained smile. Her attempt at a joke went ignored.

"Right, guys," Chelsey said, a comforting hand placed on Kelly's back. "Anyone call the police yet?"

"Signal's dead. For all of us." Twiggy held up her phone and gestured to Kou, Jess, and Jenna.

"Fuck. What about hotel management?" Jess asked.

"Disappeared like fucking Atlantis," Nicki said as she stepped back into the room. "Not a trace."

Becky came in close afterward. "Phone lines are disconnected. Roads are blocked. Someone doesn't want us out of here."

"Someones would be more precise, my dear."

A new voice. Eleven sets of eyes spun in its direction, and the speaker grinned and took a bow.

"Who are you--"

"How did you--"

"Why are you wearing a top hat?"

"My name is Ghost," the stranger replied, hopping down from the windowsill. "I got here by means of my brain (an area in which you are all decidedly lacking), and I wear a top hat because it is enjoyable to wear a top hat." He quirked an eyebrow. "Any more questions?"

"Uh, yeah. Are you always so obnox--"

Jenna broke Kou off. "What did you mean by someones?"

"Well, that is a most fascinating tale." Ghost grinned, beginning a slow, steady walk across the room. "You see, my friends, you have been fortunate enough to be chosen for the ritual sacrifice this village makes every year."

"What?"

"Oh, it's not all bad. It's a bit of a game, you see." Ghost stepped behind the bar and began mixing a drink. "There are two werewolves among you. Every night, they will select one of your number to kill." He nodded at Tri's mangled body. "They will not touch you during the day, however, and you will be able to vote on whomever you believe is a wolf. That person--" Ghost made vigorous use of a cocktail shaker "--will be subsequently killed. If you manage to kill both the wolves, then you win. You will be set free. If, however, the wolves outnumber the humans..." Ghost winked, then took a sip of his drink -- blood red.

"You lose."

You have until 9 PM to vote. Have fun.

PS. How characters act in the story is not necessarily a reflection of their roles in the game. So if I write anybody as acting shady, that doesn't mean they're a wolf. It just means I wanted to write them as acting shady.

PPS. Pretend I wrote in an explanation of the Guardian and Seer. -dies- Too lazy to fix it now. Ghost rambles on for long enough anyway.

PPPS. Tri, you can be the tie-breaker for any votes that need it.
