Character Information
Name: Ella Samantha Daly (also known as Ellie or El)
LJ Username: eruditetwin
House: Grrrrrrrryffindor
Year: 6th
Age: 16
Birthdate: May 6

Zodiac Sign / Description: Taurus
Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac and is associated with the neck and throat. Positive characteristics include stamina, patience, practicality, frugality, creativity, a love of beauty and nature, faithfulness, loyalty, determination, sensuality, and affection. Negative characteristics are stubbornness (there's a reason why stubborn people are called bullheaded), materialism, resistance to change, laziness, a terrible temper once aroused, prejudice, and sometimes an unimaginative nature.

These wizards will be less hot headed and apt to charge at windmills than other Gryffindors, for Taurus is an earth sign, and the element of Earth adds a pragmatic streak to even the flightiest of wizards. As with all Taureans, though, if a Gryffindor Taurus is pushed hard enough, she will exhibit a volcanic temper. Gryffindors born under this sign will be exceptionally loyal to their friends, and will have high standards of personal integrity.

Bloodline: Halfblood
Heritage: Irish, please.

Mother: Keira Ellen Daly, 39, bookshop owner
Father: Shaun Patrick Daly, 40, Muggle Lawyer
Guardian: N/A
Siblings: a twin sister named Emma and an older brother who is 18 named Kyle

Personal History:
Ella grew up in a small wizarding town on the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland with her twin sister, Emma. Ella was born just eight minutes earlier than her twin, but she sometimes feels as though it's more like eight years. The twins are as different as night and day in terms of personality, but they are still exceedingly close. Emma is Ella's best friend and vice versa. There is nothing Ella wouldn't do for her sister.

The family is an average middle-class wizarding family. Both of their parents work - Dad as a Muggle Lawyer and Mum runs a bookshop in the village. The twins help out in the shop during holidays from school, though Ella tends to spend more time there than her sister does.

Ella's other favourite person in this world is their older brother. He's a couple of years older than the twins and even though Emma often rails at his protectiveness, Ella doesn't see it as much, since she is much less social than her more outgoing twin.

Life at Hogwarts has been pretty uneventful so far. Ella has tended to spend more time with her books than socialising. Emma drags her out on occasion, frequently, so she isn't without friends, but she prefers the quiet company of a small group to the large crowd of acquaintances that more commonly surrounds her sister.

Personality:
Ella is the more serious of the twins. One might suspect that practicality is her middle name, because she rarely does anything rash or impulsive. In fact, people often ask her why she's not in Ravenclaw instead of Gryffindor. It might be that she wanted to stay with her sister, but more likely it's that Ella has a strong activist streak. While at a glance she appears to just be a nerdy little bookworm, Ella has a lot of passion for the things she believes in. She's not afraid to go toe to toe with any of the bullies in the school, those who might pick on those they consider inferior, and she's not about to tell those elitist prats in Slytherin tell her she's anything less than them just because her Dad happens to be non-magical.

Say anything against her family or against any of her pet causes and you'll find out in an instant just why Ella is a Lion. She may not be quick to draw her wand for a hex, but she'll debate with the best of them and it's difficult to miss the passion behind her words when she does.

Ella is a romantic at heart. She's embarrassed to admit it, but she's a sap for films or books with sad, romantic plotlines. She doesn't date a lot, but it's not because she's disinterested in boys. She's just holding out for the perfect romance she reads about in her books, the kind of love her parents have. She doesn't voice any of this aloud, though, and it's probably widely believed that she simply prefers books to boys.

Physical Description: Delicate and petite with wavy blonde hair and bright blue eyes, she stands at 5'1 and weighs 120 lbs. Ellie's style of dress is a bit more relaxed and casual than Emma's, which is one key way you can tell the girls apart. She doesn't wear very much makeup (usually a hint of blush and some lip gloss) and her clothing tends to be simple, but not horribly casual. She doesn't follow style trends AT ALL. She blushes when she's nervous or embarrassed, which happens almost anytime she's paid a compliment and her smile is generally very sweet and innocent.

Preferred Body Model: Hayden Panetierre (to be shared with her identical twin)

Hobbies and talents:
Reading - Ella is a huge bookworm and she loves to read. Her love of books extends to factual volumes and textbooks as well as all kinds of fictitious literature from both the Muggle and Wizarding worlds.
Debate - Ella is an excellent debater. She's good to have around for an argument, so long as she's on your side! She has a stubborn streak that makes her slow to give up and a good head for logic and facts that helps her to back up her side of things.

Weaknesses:
Idealism/Naivety - Ella's idealism causes her to see the world as it should be rather than how it really is. It causes her to sometimes place lofty expectations on people and things, only to be disappointed when they don't work out.
Argumentative/Stubborn - While she's not super-rash, Ella doesn't know how or when to back down from a fight. When she gets it in her head that she is right, she doesn't change her mind easily and she'll keep fighting even if she doesn't have a real leg to stand on.
Over-studious - There's such a thing as being too bookwormy sometimes and it applies in Ella's case. She really needs to learn when to stop burying herself in the books and when to relax and have a little fun!
Clumsiness/Klutziness - It's a good thing Ella isn't into sports, because she's not very well-coordinated. She has two left feet and can only dance passably thanks to years of forced dance lessons as a child. Those who know her have long ago stopped trying to talk her into impromptu games of just about anything for her own safety. Ella playing a sport? Almost always results in a trip to the hospital wing. The same applies to flying. She fell off of her broom at least a dozen times in first year flying lessons and was relieved when she was finally allowed to stop taking them.

Best subjects: Charms & Potions
Worst subjects: Defense, but only because she lacks coordination/reflexes like whoa. She's does just fine at casting defensive spells, but she has HORRID reaction times. She also pretty well sucks at Herbology. Plants tend to die just by her looking at them.

Broom: None! Ella avoids brooms like the plague. She's deathly afraid of heights, ever since she fell off during first year flying lessons.
Wand: 10 1/2 inch Willow, Ashwinder Ash core

List of classes for current year:
Charms, Potions, Transfiguration, History of Magic, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Muggle Studies

Magical Stuffs
Patronus (for fifth years and older):
The Phoenix, the phoenix is a creature that symbolizes prophetic wisdom, death, and rebirth. This Majestic patronus soars onto the field blanketing your foes in fire and causing devastation to all that oppose it. You should be honored to receive this magical creature as your patronus! (info from here

What would your character smell if they sniffed Amortentia (the love potion)? Books. That musty old book smell from the bookshop.
Do you think your character is capable of successfully employing a Cruiciatus Curse? Why or why not?
The only situation I can see her doing it in would be if someone hurt her sister badly enough. Even then, it would probably be a weak one, because I don't think she could sustain the desire to cause that kind of pain for long enough to do it well.
Describe how your character would react, in the form of a sample RP, if faced with a Dementor.
Ellie fumbled for her wand as she ran. She knew she'd never actually outrun the Dementor, but if she could just buy some time until she coud....

Smack

Ellie tripped over.. something? Nothing? It didn't matter, because she'd fallen and she sucked in a breath as the painful scraping of pavement over flesh. Of all the times to be such a klutz!

She had finally gotten her wand free, but it was hard to focus now. The dementor was too close and Ellie was too consumed with that feeling of.. despair, hopelessness. She raised her wand, weakly muttering the incantation as she tried to summon her patronus.

Alignment:
Absolutely good. No one who's met her would ever question how Ella feels about Voldemort or his Death Eaters, since she's pretty vocal when it comes to defending herself and others around those who share his values. If she knew about the DA, she'd join up in a heartbeat and she's toying with the idea of trying to be an Auror when she leaves school. Even if she doesn't end up there, you can be sure she'll do whatever she can to support Dumbledore and the Order.

Requests: I'd love to have her either IN the DA or on the list to be recruited for it in-game.

Players: Please leave your comments here! Be sure to list reasons for objections, and don't forget to separately approve or reject any special requests! Thank you!
